For the average user, there is a rule in AstLinux: !!never edit a system  
file that doesn't begin with **''/mnt/kd/''**!!.

''/etc/rc.modules'' and ''/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules'' are two exceptions to the rule -- these two files may be directly edited.
